History

The Faculty of Law Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta established since the establishment of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, March 1st 1981, along with Faculty of Economy, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Social and Political Studies. The teaching and learning activities were held in SPG Muhammadiyah I Yogyakarta building, then moved to UMY Wirobrajan campus before finally moved to the integrated campus of UMY Jalan Lingkar Selatan, Tamantirto, Kasihan Bantul, Yogyakarta.

The status development of this faculty began when REGISTERED status given for Study Program of Contitutional Law from The Ministry of Education and Culture Indonesia Decree No. 0417/1985 and APPROVED status for Study Program of Civil Law, Study Program of Criminal Law, Study Program of Constitutional Law from the Decree of Dirjen DIKTI No 12/DIKTI/KEP/1992. EQUATED status achieved in 1995 through the Decree of Dirjen DIKTI No 67/DIKTI/KEP/1995 and in 1997 based on The Ministry of Education and Culture Indonesia Decree No. 78/D/0/1997 about the result of National Accreditation Institution, Faculty of Law UMY achieved ACCREDITED status with “B” level.

In 2003, Faculty of Law got Dirjen Dikti decree No: 06045/AK-VIIS1-036/UMYIHK/X/2003 (accredited). In 2008, Faculty of Law UMY achieved “A” level based on National Accreditation Institution for Higher Education No. 020/BAN-PT/Ak-XI/S1/VIII/2008 in August 29th 2008.
